Bio

Samantha Appleton has worked on stories as varied as the conflict in Iraq, Malaria in Africa and fishing communities of Maine. Most of her projects are self-motivated and concentrate on the social and political consequences of conflict and neglect. She has won numerous awards from organizations such as Pictures of the Year, PDN and Communication Arts. She is a founder and member of Noor, a premier cooperative photo agency. Her primary editorial clients are TIME magazine and the New Yorker magazine. She lives in Portland, ME and New York.
